As part of the Health promotion through Obesity Prevention across Europe (HOPE) project, a Europe-wide search was conducted in order to locate relevant past and ongoing projects capable of providing data on behavioural patterns and environmental factors associated with the risk of overweight and obesity in youth. The principal investigators of the projects were approached with regard to the possibility of conducting secondary analysis on their data and they were invited to a writing workshop, which was arranged in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, during 7–8 April 2008.
