Current standard-of-care (SOC) drugs for type 2 diabetes and obesity such as acarbose, metformin, orlistat or sibutramine may be associated with systemic side effects such as vertigo, dizziness, vomiting, hepatitis, thrombocytopenia, heart rate changes, or severe allergic reactions among others. These synthetic drugs are generally expensive and may interact with other drugs in the body inducing adverse side effects. The present invention consisting of a proprietary type of whole fresh egg and egg extract containing specifically induced immunoglobulin Y(IgY) representing a significant advance from synthetic drugs in that its use is not associated with such systemic side effects while effectively controlling carbohydrate absorption in the gut. Our proprietary eggs provide affordable access to carbohydrate control, the egg being a low cost functional food. It also facilitates compliance with medical treatment and may augment current SOC anti-diabetes or anti-obesity drugs without any risk of drug-drug interaction since this is a common and widely nutritional material.
