For many years a light art installation - to cite Olafur Eliasson - was an interior space that engrosses the viewer completely through light. The Weather Project comprising the huge sun, which was shown in the Tate Modern in 2003, was one such installation. People entered the space - and succumbed. We will doubtless continue to be presented with light art of this kind. Right now the light art scene has become utterly fascinated by a unique and highly innovative project in Finland. Silo 468 in Helsinki incorporates media design in light art as a part of architecture - the most modern form of light art and architectural lighting rolled into one. It is both an expression of today's digital world and an indication of what lighting design is destined to become.
