Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Hosts Secretary of State as ￡290M Drilling Rig Contract is Unveiled

The Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Rt Hon. Edward Davey MP, was in Aberdeen recently to welcome the confirmation of a ￡290 million contract, which signalled a major step forward in one of the most significant North Sea developments in recent years. Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited has awarded a drilling rig contract to international contractorjransocean,following a competitive tendering process. The Sedco 712 semi-submersible rig will carry out the three year contract. The rig will undergo a reactivation project involving more than one million man-hours of work, providing significant employment opportunities for the Invergordon area, where the rig is currently located.
