Evaluation and Management of Vaginal and Vulvar Intraepithelial Neoplasia

The evaluation and management of vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VAIN) and vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN) can be challenging for women's health care providers because these conditions are far less common than cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CENT). Nevertheless, they can be precursors to genital malignancy, so practitioners should be comfortable and facile with evaluating these problems and knowing what they can treat comfortably and when to refer the patient. To address the gap between present and ideal clinical practice, the epidemiology, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of VAIN and VIN will be reviewed in this lesson.
