There are lots of ways to get data into a system. These range from keyboards to mice, to voice, etc. One of the methods that's becoming more popular of late is going directly to the source - touchscreen technology. Allowing the user to input the information directly eliminates the need for a mouse or other pointing device, thereby simplifying the input process. In other words, it doesn't take a computer-savvy user to touch the right response on the display, but that might not be the case if the user were require to handle a mouse or joystick.
