Norms for plastic packaging of water

THE Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has set standards for plastic packaging of drinking and mineral waters.Flexible plastic pouches are the cheapest mode of packaging and water packed in these pouches are in great demand where groundwater is saline or contaminated,particularly in coastal areas.Water packaged in these pouches are necessary in relief operations during natural calamities.Keeping this requirement in view,the BIS formulated norms for flexible polyethylene pouches under the head IS 15609:2005.
