THE cumulative production capacity for polypropylene (PP) in India has increased by 440,000-tpa, with HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd. (HMEL) dedicating its newly set up Guru Gobind Singh Refinery to the nation. The refinery is integrated to a PP plant using propylene produced from the refinery. This is the third refinery in the country equipped with PP production facility, after the refineries of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) at Jamnagar (Gujarat), and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at Panipat (Haryana).
