MR. O.P. Ratra, a senior plastics technologist who has held senior level appointments in the Centre, as also a member of our Editorial Board has offered the following Objections.comments and suggestions on the above ban which we have summarized as below:Preliminary Objections; The matter Is Sub-judiceThe matter relating to Plastic carry bags is pending in the Supreme Court, further to High Court judgement of 7.8.2008, relevant counters and rejoinders have been filed by the respective parties, arguments and decisions are pending. Any notification/order in supersession further to that of 7-1 -2009 if issued/proposed by the Secretary (Environment Forest & Wildlife) of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi, is sub-judice tantamounting to interfering in proceedings of the related matter pending final decision in the Supreme Court. Under the circumstances till the pending matter in the Supreme Court of India is finally settled, the issue of the notification under reference, becomes redundant and should be withdrawn forthwith.
