Indonesia records growth in all sectors

During the five years to 2002, all sectors of Indonesia's poultry population - ducks, native chicken, commercial layers and broilers - recorded significant growth. Poultry production continues to be one of the brightest growth areas in Indonesia's livestock industry. Between 1989 and 1997, the poultry sector recorded an average annual growth of almost 15%! Despite the Indonesian currency devaluation in 1997, the industry continued to expand, the average over the period 1997 to 2003 exceeding 14% - 14.7% for eggs and 12.3% for poultrymeat.
