摘要

Our knowledge of immunology has advanced to the point where it can be applied to feeding strategies that improve farm animals' acquired immunity and so reduce the negative impacts of disease on performance. Restrictions regarding the use of antibiotics in feed have led to changes in dietary regimes; management and rearing environments to reduce pathogen exposure in intensively farmed animals. At a more fundamental level, molecular sciences such as immunology have advanced to a level where we can apply such knowledge into feeding strategy and producing animals that have better acquired immunity, to reduce the impact of disease on performance.
