摘要

Benzyl alcohol in higher than 90% yield was achieved from the hydrogenation of benzoic acid catalyzed by using a magnesium oxide-supported poly-γ-aminopropylsiloxane-ruthenium-palladium-stannum trimetallic complex catalyst (MgO-NH{sub}2-Ru-Pd-Sn) in 1,4-dioxane. The Ru/Pd/Sn mole ratio, reaction temperature, hydrogen gas pressure and reaction time greatly influenced the reaction. The catalyst was stable and could be used repeatedly without any remarkable changes in catalytic activity.
