In his recent review [1], S.Yu. Gus’kov asserts that fast ignition of a precompressed spherical fusion target from a conical fusion target was first proposed in the papers by Gus’kov and Murakami [2] and Gus’kov and Zmitrenko [3], published in 2009 and 2012 and cited in [1] as [142] and [143], respectively. In fact, for the first time, such an ignition scheme was proposed by the author of the present comment in his preprint [4], published in 2002, and paper [5], published in 2003. In 2006, Winterberg [6] also proposed to use microexplosion of a conical target to accelerate the striker igniting the main part of the compressed thermonuclear fuel.
