Poland plans expansion of natural gas storage

Poland plans to spend US220-mil on a major expansion of its gas storage capacity by 2005,Polish Deputy Economy Minister Jacek Piechota said Feb 20.Piechota told the Polish parliament the country's current gas storage capacity was 300-mil cu m (about 10.6 Bet),enough to supply individual gas consumers for about one week.He said the amount of gas stored dropped to 260-mil cu m when Russia's Gazprom halted gas deliveries via Belarus for 20 hours (ON 2/20).Piechota said the storage facilities would be increased to 1.4-bilcumin2005.
