Amerada Hess' recent natural gas discovery in northeastern Thailand, if proven commercial, could significantly plug the gas supply shortfall faced by the region's Nam Phong power plant. Hess' initial test in the onshore Phu Horm prospect in Udon Thani, 564 km northeast of Bangkok, proved positive, indicating the prospect could hold extensive gas reserves, Amerada Hess Thailand general manager Jan Evensen said.
