Excerpts from the Chief Guest Address by Mr.Shankar Aggarwal, Labour Secretary, Government of India, at the 123rd UPASI Annual Conference held on 24th September 2016

It is my privilege to be here this afternoon to be a part of the 123rd Annual Conference of UPASI. I have no exposure to plantations except that when I was growing up in the services, one of my direct boss happened to be a former Chairman of Tea BoardMr.Jagdish Khattar and I heard a lot about the tea industry and the Tea Board from him who ultimately became the Chairman of Maruti Udyog Ltd. Another boss of mine was also associated with Tea Board. Both of them used to speak very high of tea industryand tea plantations. So that is my exposure to plantations, but already fascinated by this industry.
