REVIVING SOUTH INDIAN TEA

Tea Plantations have existed in India for centuries after the British found that it would grow in North East India. At that time China had the near monopoly on Tea production and tea consumption (mainly of green tea). By the time we got independence from the British Raj, we were the largest producer, consumer and exporter of tea in the world. The fact that the tea industry became so big and continued to expand for centuries is testimony to its wide demand and popularity.
