Excerpts of the speech of Mr.C.S.Bedi, Chairman, CCPA and Guest of Hounour at the 119th Annual Conference of UPASI held on 28th September 2012

As Chairman of the Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations (CCPA) it gives me great pleasure to be amongst you at this the 119th UPASI Annual Conference. As this is my first visit to UPASI to be amongst this large cross-section of the plantation sector in South India I welcome this opportunity to be able to share some thoughts on the Tea industry which continues to play a vital role in India's economy - particularly in far flung and remote areas.As Chairman of the CCPA - as also of the Indian Tea Association (ITA) -1 convey warmest fraternal greetings from all Constituents of the North Indian tea industry and their best wishes for the success of the UPASI Annual Conference. My Vice Chairman andthe Chairman North Eastern Tea Association are also here with me and their best wishes are also with you.
