The test was conducted in a field that had been planted annually to soybean or snap bean since 2002 with moderate seedling disease losses. The soil was a Loring-Calloway silt loam intergrade, 0-1% slope, pH 6.5 (water) with 1% O.M. and moderate soil test levels of available P and K. Seed treatment slurries were created by adding distilled water to the test materials. Seed was treated 12-17 Apr with 11 fl oz slurry/100 lb seed and kept at laboratory temperature until planting. Fertilizer (15-15-15) was broadcast over the field at 300 lb/A on 8 Aug. The soil was prepared for planting with a disk and field harrow on 9 Aug. A split-plot design was used. Main plots consisted of differences inthe application of Dual II Magnum at 1.4 pint/A applied either pre-plant incorporated (PPI) on 9 Aug or as a pre-emergence herbicide on 10 Aug. Main plots were replicated eight times. Subplots listed in the table consisted of two rows of snap beans, 20 ft long and spaced 30 in. apart. The test was planted 10 Aug with a planter equipped with cone seeders at a planting rate of 5 seed/ft and a planting depth of 1.5 - 0.5 in.Irrigation was applied with a lateral boom system on 7 and 16 Sep at ca. 0.5 in. water/irrigation. Rainfall included 2.84 in. on 10-31 Aug and2.88 in. in Sep. The mean of the daily high and low soil temperatures at the 2 in. depth (bare soil, undisturbed, non-irrigated) during Aug and Sep were 86 and 74EF, respectively. Mean daily air temperatures for Aug and Sep were 82 and 69EF, respectively. Post-emergence dampingoff losses were recorded on 23-24 and 30 Aug and on 19-20 Sep. Pre-emergence damping-off losses were estimated by subtracting from planted seed the number of healthy emerged plants on 30 Aug and the total of post-emergence losses23-30 Aug. Healthy stand was recorded on 19-20 Sep. The test was harvested on 4 Oct with a one-row mechanical snap bean picker. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA).
