Rivers and streams have inherent purification mechanisms to break down waste.Population growth and expanded industrial activity have produced quantities and types of waste that far exceed the capacity of these naturally occuring treatment systems.Increased amounts and varieties of chemicals have necessitated the advancement of wastewater treatment processes to ensure environmental preservation and encourage sustainable development.
