Two meetings in October captured a striking range of process plant improvement opportunities. At ISA/2009 in Houston, Huntsman Chemical described Project Zero at its Port Neches, TX, plant. This facility produces performance chemicals from primary petrochemical feedstocks. Project Zero is among the largest industrial wireless applications attempted worldwide to date. The initial deployment of the wireless (WiFi) network covers four production units (out of 12 total units at the site) on about half of the plant's 3,000 acres.
