Researchers at the Univ. of Florida and Kimberly-Clark Corp. have synthesized a nanoparticle from silica and copper that eliminates unpleasant odors. Most common household deodorants are spray-based fragrances that mask odors but do not eliminate them from the environment. The team, led by materials science and engineering professor Brij Moudgil, developed the new catalytic material to completely destroy malodors that originate primarily from microbial action.
