摘要

Patrik Juslin has made a pioneering and massive contribution to the psychology of music and emotion, in particular through his two books co-edited with John Sloboda [2,3]. His most recent theoretical contribution has been the formulation of the BRECVEM model, and in this new paper he suggests that this model is unable to deal with what he calls ‘aesthetic emotions’, which include high-level aspects of appreciation such as awe and wonder. He draws on the distinction between ‘everyday’ and ‘aesthetic’ emotions, which is well established in the literature, and this paper introduces ‘aesthetic judgment’ as an eighth mechanism in the model, which is consequently re-branded as BRECVEMA.
