Nontechnical personnel are often interested in topics that can be applied to their own residence or home maintenance. Elements of process safety such as pressure relief and backflow prevention are incorporated into residential housing and can be interesting topics for a nontechnical audience — especially if the presentation focuses on clear, simple actions the individual can take regardless of whether he or she understands the theory behind the action. With a little thought, the underlying process safety concepts associated with popular hobbies or ports can be identified and articulated, too.
