Scientists have developed a new process for synthesizing diamonds that operates at lower temperatures than previous techniques.Industrial diamond production processes are based on the conversion of graphite into diamond at extremely high pressures and temperatures-generally about 1.4 kbar and up to 1,400 deg C,although some alternative routes work in the 800-1,000 deg C range.
