The Machine The basic airframe comes from the Pilatus PC-9, which Hawker Beechcraft significantly modified the design to suit the needs of the U.S. military for the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) competition. The U.S. Air Force has operated the T-6A since 2000. The Navy's TAW-6 took delivery of T-6As as an interim step before receiving the B model. Those aircraft wore the USAF dark blue/white paint scheme - the easiest way to distinguish an A model from a B.
