A recent survey of more than 830 UK engineers and employers has revealed that flood risk engineering has been identified as having the biggest shortfall in skills in the water sector. That's quite frightening, really, especially when you consider the increasing frequency of extreme flooding that we're experiencing these days. But let's not forget that the skills shortage is just impacting flood risk engineering. It's having an effect on all aspects of engineering, in the water industry and other sectors as well. According to the survey, 81% of employers have experienced increased employee turnover. Worryingly, a staggering 70% said this has led to a reduced ability to finish projects.
