TUNISIA: SUCCESS OF THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMA COURSES

In partnership with the CETIME, Institut de Soudure provided training and evaluation for future welding co-ordinators in April 2009. These first sessions in Tunisia achieved very satisfactory results. This training of co-ordinators is becoming ever more necessary for the welding quality assurance of manufacturers, which is tending to become contractualised by prime contractors: standard ISO 3834 demands that companies appoint welding coordinators, responsible for undertaking one or more co-ordination tasks. Standard ISO 14731 "Welding co-ordination - Tasks and responsibilities", certifies the skills required to satisfy the responsibilities associated with welding. Three increasing levels of technical knowledge are recognised internationally: International Welding Specialist (IWS), International Welding Technologist (IWT) and International Welding Engineer (IWE). In order to satisfy this requirement, Institut de Soudure and CETIME signed a co-operation agreement at the end of 2007, to cover professional training.
