Index points finger at UK rivers

WWF has named some of the UK's major rivers and wetlands as being in a worse state than many of those in Eastern Europe. The Water and Wetland Index has named the rivers Trent and Severn as needing major restoration works to comply with new EU water legislation. Others requiring improvement include the Dee in Wales, and the Foyle, the lagan, and the Bann in Northern Ireland.
