Barents woe for Equinor

EQUINOR has hit dust at its latest exploration well in the Barents Sea off Norway, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). State-controlled oil and gas player Equinor drilled the 7018/5-1 wildcat on the Spissa prospect on production licence 960 in the Barents Sea but it was classified as dry, the NPD said late last week. The well was drilled about 100 kilometres southwest of the Snohvit field and about 195 kilometres west of Hammer-fest. "The primary exploration target for the well was to prove petroleum in reservoir rocks from the Early Jurassic to Middle Jurassic Age (the Sto and Nordmela formations)," the NPD said.
