Chinese drilling contractor China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL) is sending its deep-water semi-submersible rig COSL Prospector back to China after Austrian operator OMV cancelled the last of a four-well campaign in New Zealand. Asia-based drilling sources said that there is no immediate job for the rig, as China currently has an ample supply of semisubs. The rig is expected to be warm-stacked in the South China Sea after it arrives, waiting for the next job.
