Didcot displays diesels for first time in 28 years

Didcot Railway Centre held its first diesel event since 1985 on May 25-27 (RM May p98), when locos that had been in action at the Swanage diesel gala were placed on display. Some saw operation on the demonstration line, but the Class 31 failed on the Saturday. About 1,350 visitors attended the event, making it a financial success and appearing to be generally well-received, but some lessons were learnt for future events. It is hoped to repeat the event next year and for it to become a permanent fixture in the calendar.
