'Skills'trainees for SVR academy

The Severn Valley Railway is to recruit five trainees for its Heritage Skills Training Academy, due to be launched in September. The trainees will learn about basic engineering, covering repair, overhaul and maintenance of locomotives and carriages, while also undertaking a college engineering course, leading to a recognised qualification. On completing the two-year traineeship, an apprenticeship will be offered, with time equally divided between the SVR's workshops and college.
