Academy ready to open doors to nuclear skills trainees

The government has given the go-ahead for the National Nuclear Skills Academy to help meet skills shortages in the nuclear industry. The academy, which is being funded 50/50 by industry and government, will offer students and existing nuclear workers the opportunity to gain qualifications relevant to the nuclear industry. Areas such as radiation protection, waste management, decom- missioning and power production will be covered. The first courses start in January.
