A look at our August 1913, 1963 and 1993 issues. 100 years ago The Great Northern Railway Company has opened a new railway from Kirkstead to Skegness, the bracing resort on the Lincolnshire coast. The new line does not affect the Skegness traffic from London, but will render the place more easily accessible from Lincoln, Sheffield, Manchester and other large centres. It is 15 1/2 miles in length and begins at a junction with the Lincoln to Boston line about 1 1/2 miles south of Kirkstead, terminating at Bellwater Junction, between East Ville and Little Steeping on the Boston to Firsby line.
