Didcot's'Saint'aets a (scare) boiler

The boiler from ex-'Barry 10' GWR 2800 No. 2861 went to Didcot in late May as the scrapyard condition 2-8-0, which arrived at Llangollen on May 7 (RM July), was dismantled. The cylinder block is destined for the Great Western Society's new-build Churchward 4700 2-8-0 'Nigh: Owl' No. 4709 at Llangollen (see Workshop News below). The ex-No. 2861 GWR Standard No. 1 boiler becomes a second boiler for the GWS project to build 'Saint' No. 2999 Lady of Legend. The boiler was lifted into the frames of No. 2999 at Didcot on June 1 to become a template for setting pipework.
