'Festival Express' carriage No. 728 returned to service at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway on St Patrick's Day. It was built in 1951 by the UlsterTransport Authority for the new train commissioned by the Northern Ireland government as part of its contribution to the Festival of Britain celebrations. The loco entered preservation at the D&CDR in September 1991, and was used as a waiting carriage during Halloween and Christmas operations until July 2012. Restoration to original condition of what is believed to be the sole-surviving carriage of the 'Festival Express' train has involved 10,000 hours of work by 10 volunteers over two years.
