NEWLY outshopped 'Modified Hall' No. 6989 Wightwick Hall will get its first real opportunity to 'stretch its legs' post-restoration this autumn when it visits the Battlefield Line to take part in the railway's 50th anniversary gala. The visit is something of a coup for the Leicestershire line as it will be the only time No. 6989 operates away from the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre (BRC) this year. The Hawksworth 4-6-0 returned to steam last December after a four-decade restoration, and will spend much of the year working at the BRC's Quainton base.
