Aft island installed on first carrier

The BAE Systems-built aft island of the Queen Elizabeth (QE) class aircraft carrier had been installed on HMS Queen Elizabeth, the first of two carriers in the class. The aft island, also known as Upper Block 14, was the final section of the first of class to be delivered to the Babcock shipyard at Rosyth. The island operates as a control tower and is the centre of the flight operations on the ship. Housing 110 compartments, it is over 30m tall and contains more than 44,000m of cable.
