We are faced with a challenge to secure the growth, jobs and investment that will drive our future prosperity. Our recently released National Infrastructure Plan - the first ever published by a UK government -underlines our commitment to investment in infrastructure as a platform for growth. The settlement transport received in the Spending Review included more than ￡750m to fund the development of our plans for a national high-speed rail network, with the bulk of capital expenditure occurring after 2015.
