On 1 September 2009, Communities and Local Government (CLG) published a report entitled the Future of Building Control Implementation Plan.This seemingly innocuous document could have far-reaching implications for architects, the way they interact with Building Control, and planning application fees.rnThe government has set out its plans to make it easier for architects and builders to understand what is expected of them and to ensure buildings comply with high standards for safety and sustainability. The measures are intended to cut red tape and support the construction industry through the recession, allowing councils to let responsible builders get on with the job and to focus instead on builders with a history of shoddy work.
