Strand scheme makes it off the GRID

GRID Architects has won planning approval for this, 2,090m2 mixed-use shopping and housing scheme on the Strand in central London. The practice started work on the 206-flat project under its former guise as the Housing and Urbanism Group at Hamiltons (now BFLS). Designed to meer the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, the scheme for Mourant Property Trustees and Berkeley Homes replaces an existing office block. According to the practice, the laser-cut metal filigree balustrades will provide 'a relief to the simplicity of the stone facade and echo the surrounding historic style'.
