House 4, Firhouse TAKA architects

摘要

House 4 is built using materials and techniques typical of suburban houses and tuned to the challenges and desires of the design. External walls are load-bearing concrete blockwork; roughcast externally and insulated internally. The interior is lined in a finishing material. The house is differentiated from its neighbours in its details. One example is where the frame and sill of the windows are given a raw expression. The external layer of unpainted roughcast render is brought into the reveals of the windows. The aggregate size is reduced from 20mm to 10mm over these smaller surfaces. Inward opening tilt-and-turn windows are fixed to the inside face of the external leaf and continue the line of insulation.
