U.S.Textile Machinery Industry and US Exhibitors at ITMA 2003 Exhibition in Birmingham, U.K.

The American textile machinery industry comprising roughly 500 companies are located in numerous states, though concentrated primarily in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Textile machinery is an industry of small to medium-sized companies. Of these 500 companies, 200 companies make complete machines, while a number of textile machinery manufacturers produce a variety of different products original equipment manufacturers tend type concentrate production in one or two types of machines. The U.S. textile machinery industry shipped US $1.4 billion worth of equipment in year 2001, down 3.3 per cent when compared to 2000. At the Itma 2003 Exhibition held in Birmingham in October 2003, United States was among the top ten exhibiting companies. The U.S. textile industry has been in the doldrums for the past couple of years but along with the country's textile machinery sector, it hopes that Itma 2003 Exhibition may help them for an upturn in their fortunes.
