Intelsat Eyes Completion Of PanAmSat Acquisition

Intelsat Holdings Ltd.'s acquisition of PanAmSat Holding Corp. is expected to be completed July 3 following the FCC's approval of the transaction with only national security and law enforcement conditions agreed to by the company. The merger between Bermuda-based Intelsat and Wilton, Conn.-based PanAmSat would create the world's largest satellite provider, with a combined fleet of 51 satellites that serve more than 220 countries and territories. Fixed satellite service (FSS) provider SES Global SA would be second largest carrier. Under the deal, Intelsat plans to acquire PanAmSat for $3.2 billion in cash and the assumption of $3.2 billion in debt.
