Mont. panel mulls granting distribution co-ops more voice in generation, transmission

A panel of the Montana Legislature is seeking public commentnthrough Aug. 20 on draft legislation to require at least two-thirdsnof all rural distribution electric cooperatives who are members of angeneration and transmission, or G&T, cooperative to in turn have anminimum two-thirds vote of each of their individual board of trustnees to approve any G&T co-op agreements for construction of electricngenerating facilities or contracts that may result in rate increases.
