Analysts: Peabody’s Ala. met coal mine deal bodes well for company

Coal industry analysts said Peabody Energy Corp.’s agreement to purchase Drummond Co. Inc.’s Shoal Creek metallurgical mine will provide a valuable resource to the new owner. The companies announced Sept. 21 that Peabody intends to buy the Alabama mine, a preparation plant and supporting assets, excluding most legacy liabilities, for $400 million.
