Automotive service centers must be equipped to handle the latest technologies. That's what prompted one manufacturer, BMW, to ask Siemens to develop new systems for diagnostics, information and spare parts management. These systems have now been introduced at BMW service centers around the world. Back in the 1950s, an average automobile's entire onboard electronic system could be represented in a simple, one page circuit diagram, and all of its documentation would fill only about one loose leaf binder. Today, things are very different. Vehicles are now crammed with electronic control units, sensors, and bus systems.
