On the Columbia River, 280 miles east of Seattle, Washington, Siemens Power Corporation is upgrading the three largest generators at Grand Coulee Dam. Rated at 700 megawatts each - enough to supply a city of 500,000 people - the three units alone produce as much power as Nevada's Hoover Dam. Managed by the Bureau of Reclamation, an agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Grand Coulee is the largest hydro project in North America.
