German cruise operator AIDA Kreuzfahrten's innovative flagship AIDAprima arrived in European waters at the end of April, roughly a year after she was supposed to have been delivered by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. She arrived at her first European port, Rotterdam, on 19 April, having travelled via Singapore, Oman, Limassol, Cadiz and Lisbon. At 300m in length, she is the largest ship and flagship of the 11-ship Aida Cruises fleet. She made her maiden call at her home port of Hamburg two days later, staying for a couple of days, then undertaking an overnight shakedown cruise, before making her first UK call in Southampton on 27 April. She subsequently returned to Hamburg to be named on 7 May by the German actress Emma Schweiger in a ceremony that formed part of the Port's 827th anniversary celebrations.
